With a Twitch and a Grimace, 2009

Pain can become a constant state of being. How do we adequately describe the sensations that lie deep within the membranes of the body when in such a state? Medical technology advancements quell, diminish, or make bearable, but never completely eliminate physical and psychological pain. In my installation, With a Twitch and a Grimace, I have transformed microscopic elements into macroscopic objects that relate to mechanical and organic structures that may lie beneath the surface of the skin. I want to evoke a sense of beauty and pain that can lie beneath the surface of our skin.
